After the Queen Elisabeth competition 2008 I created my own ensemble:
"I Due Quartetti, Classical with a Swing" The name speaks for itself, it consists of two quartets from different musical worlds: a classical string quartet and an authentic jazz combo.
With this special combination we create a entertaining evening called "Classical with a Swing" where opera meets operetta... meets jazz... meets musical... meets tango... meets swing... meets....
I Due Quartetti is led by Bart Van Caenegem (Pianist) and consists of: Mark Steylaerts (Violin), Véronique Giles (Violin), Liebeth De Lombaert (Viola) en Karel Steylaerts (Cello); Sabine Warnier (Flute), Dieter Limbourg (Saxophone, Clarinet), Peter Verhaegen (Double Bass) en Toni Vitacolonna (Drums).
Next to all these top musicians it is a great challenge for me as a singer to perform in the same concert each style with respect and in his own individuality.
The "integration" that we bring, gives this program a certain "swing" that is usually hidden in classical performances, while we play leading composers like Gounod, Bellini, Rachmaninov, Gershwin, Piazzolla, Legrand, Bill Evans, Rogers & Hammerstein a.o. .
